Half a nightcrawler

Tackle

6–7 ft light spinning rod with 4–6 lb line

Rig

Clip-on or slip bobber, one split shot, size 8 hook

Depth and presentation

3–4 ft below the surface. Go deeper a foot at a time until you get bites.
